Biography

Ya Wen is a Senior Trademark Attorney, based in Beijing.

Ya Wen is an experienced professional in the field of intellectual property, with 20 years of hands-on experience in trademark portfolio management, brand protection strategy, IP transactions and IP due diligence in M&A, and infringement risk assessment. Prior to joining Rouse, Ya held key positions at a top-tier U.S. law firm, a major full-service Chinese law firm, and a leading domestic IP firm, where she gained broad legal experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Ya has worked with leading companies across a wide range of industries, including technology, food and beverage, gaming, retail, film and television, chemicals, machinery, pharmaceuticals, education, publishing, hospitality, and real estate. She is highly skilled at designing and implementing tailored IP protection strategies that align with industry-specific needs and business objectives.

Ya has received extensive recognition such as ‘Gold Metal Trademark Practitioner’ and ‘Senior Tier of Trademark Expert Directory’ of China Trademark Association. She has served on many afflictions such as Enforcement Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA), provides clients with training on trademark prosecution and enforcement, and is dedicated to fostering development and exchange in the intellectual property field.

As a core team member, Ya has handled cases involving:

  • Advising a Fortune Global 500 FMCG client in obtaining well-known trademark recognitions for multiple marks and subsequently leveraging these recognitions to combat malicious trademark squatting, thereby safeguarding the client’s legitimate rights and interests.
  • Advising a Fortune Global 500 pet food company in implementing a comprehensive strategy to combat repeated trademark squatting and infringing use by malicious filers, ultimately assisting the client in ceasing the infringer’s use, removing malicious registrations, and securing trademark protection for the client’s core product categories.
  • Advising a Fortune Global 500 food and beverage client in overcoming refusals based on misleading grounds through administrative court appeal on refusal appeals, avoiding potential business impacts and supporting the smooth development of the client’s operations.
  • Advising a Fortune Global 500 company on risk assessments related to the global launch of a new brand, and effectively reducing usage risks through negotiation, ensuring the brand’s timely and compliant launch.
