Biography
Melvin Mei is a Principal, based in Shanghai.
Melvin, having focused on intellectual property for about 20 years, has extensive experience in portfolio management, commercialization, protection, and enforcement of trademarks, design patents, and copyright spaces.
Melvin excels in managing trademark portfolios, representing clients in trademark prosecution and enforcement cases before the Chinese trademark authorities, and coordinating IP protection projects, serving large domestic and international companies covering a wide spectrum of industries from technology, pharmaceuticals, biosciences, to consumer goods. Melvin has managed numerous challenging trademark dispute cases, covering registry enforcement, administrative and civil litigation, often winning favourable judicial decisions and administrative rulings for clients.
Melvin has received multiple industry accolades - being included in the "Excellent Tier of Trademark Expert Panel" by the China Trademark Association. He has served as a practical mentor for master's students studying law at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law and is currently a member of the Design Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA). He has also published professional opinions on many well-known domestic and international legal media, including Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR), World Trademark Review (WTR).
